Independent Senator for Tasmania Jacqui Lambie has invited Tasmanian Business owners to contact her office if they would like information about finance provided by a government-backed institution, the CEFC (Clean Energy Finance Corporation).

“Yesterday, I organized and chaired a meeting between executives of local employers, Grange Resources and the heads of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation. (See attached pic) I’d like to do the same for many more Tasmanian businesses.

The CEFC Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Yates, explained to Grange Resources’ Group Treasurer Mike Dontschuk, about the financial services that were available to all companies operating in Australia, who like Grange Resources, work with the minerals and energy industry.” said Senator Lambie.

“The Clean Energy Finance Corporation’s mission is to accelerate Australia’s transformation towards a more competitive economy in a carbon constrained world, by acting as a catalyst to increase investment in emissions reduction.

And what many Tasmanian Businesses probably don’t realise is that if they want to improve or upgrade their infrastructure with a view to save energy and lower their Co2 emissions, then they will qualify for loans, which run into the millions, or tens of millions of dollars through the CEFC.

Of course these loans to improve a businesses energy productivity are arranged and managed using the same rules for financial accountability as the banks, but are designed to be more timely, flexible and accommodate specific company needs.” said Senator Lambie.

“I would like as many Tasmanian Businesses as possible to inquire and hopefully be assisted by an organisation which is government backed – and as part of their charter has access to $10 billion over 5 years.

I feel certain that there are a number of both big and small Tasmanian businesses that, like Grange Resources – would benefit from a chat with the team at the Clean Energy Finance Corporation. Prospective businesses simply have to prove that their investment projects are commercially viable and will improve energy productivity.” said Senator Lambie.

“I first learnt of Grange Resources desire to invest and improve their energy productivity, while on tour of their mine and value-adding mineral factory last December (pictures). I’m glad that they had a productive meeting yesterday and entered into further talks with CEFC. This can only help improve the job security for hundreds of Tasmanian workers.” said Senator Lambie.
