Tasmanian Labor is demanding the Government produce a detailed risks report to accompany its Revised Estimates Report due to be released next week.
Shadow Treasurer Scott Bacon says this week looms as a giant test for Treasurer Peter Gutwein’s credibility.
“Last year Peter Gutwein used his much trumpeted ‘Risks Report’ to justify a raft of broken promises including how many Tasmanians will lose their jobs under a Liberal Government,” Mr Bacon said.
“Mr Gutwein also used the ‘Risks Report’ to defend his broken promise of bringing Tasmania’s budget back into surplus by next year.
“In September last year, Mr Gutwein told Parliament that Treasury’s RER, released prior to the March election, was unclear and unquantified.”
“There were no hard numbers placed against any of the risks. They were identified but they were not quantified” – Peter Gutwein, September, 2014.
“Mr Gutwein must now apply the same scrutiny to next week’s Revised Estimates Report to provide Tasmanians with a transparent comparison of the economic data,” Mr Bacon said.
“Anything less will be unacceptable.”
