New Triabunna Memorial Wall

Posted on

Today I was proud to unveil a new memorial wall at Triabunna in time for a formal unveiling on Remembrance Day.

This year Remembrance Day marks the 96th Anniversary of the Armistice which ended World War One in 1918.

The new wall was funded by a Tasmanian Government Centenary of ANZAC Grant and is called the ‘Spring Bay Wall of Wars Memorial’. It will pay homage to the fallen servicemen, across all wars, from the local Triabunna region and honours all Tasmanian Victoria Cross recipients.

The Wall of Wars has inspired a great community spirit and this commemoration to service personnel past, present and future will provide an honourable memorial to the township of Triabunna, not only for locals but for those visiting the town.

The community now has a dedicated area to learn more about those who have served and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. It will also serve as an educational area for local schools and visitors to the region.

The Liberal Government remains committed to supporting our veterans.
