New Cancer ‘transport2treatment’ Van Launched
Today I was very pleased to join the Cancer Council of Tasmania in launching its new Dry July transport2treatment van.
The van has been purchased using funds raised during Dry July, an annual event that challenges participants to go without alcohol for a month in order to raise money through sponsorship for people living with cancer.
I was honoured to be a Dry July Ambassador and personally raised $2,216 for the Cancer Council of Tasmania in its first year as a beneficiary of the national fundraiser.
The Dry July transport2treatment van will be based at Huonville and will transport patients who face difficulty travelling to and from cancer treatment.
Last year transport2treatment vans did almost 5,000 trips state-wide, demonstrating how important the program is to Tasmanians living with cancer.
The van’s Dry July branding will hopefully encourage even more people to take part in 2015, to help the Cancer Council of Tasmania continue to deliver vital support and services to patients and their families.
