More jobs created under the Liberal Government
Today’s ABS job figures show 3,000 jobs have been created since the election of a majority Liberal Government, with 300 of those jobs created in the last month alone.
More than 7,400 Tasmanians were employed in October 2014 compared with the same time last year – with over 3,800 of those new jobs full time.
While the unemployment rate remains unchanged at 7.2 per cent, the unemployment queue is the shortest it’s been in 18 months and the participation rate is the highest it’s been in years at 61 per cent.
This is yet another positive sign for the economy. Retail trade is at a record high, business confidence is through the roof, building activity is up and Tasmania has one of the fastest growing economies in the country.
