… (Northern Tasmania), in conjunction with the Lunch in the Park for suicide awareness

Background

Several years ago, Gaye Brown contacted the Bocce Federation of Tasmania, representing the Sheffield Bocce Players Group seeking advice on building a Bocce court. Since that initial contact the Federation has provided advice to assist Gaye and the Sheffield Bocce Players Group in building one full length Bocce court and one ‘half length’ Bocce court.

The Sheffield Bocce Courts are located at the Sheffield Medical Centre, 1 Henry Street, Sheffield.

Early on the Federation promised that it would visit Sheffield to help with kick starting Bocce in fabulous little town in the north of Tasmania known for its murals.

Sheffield Visit

With the assistance of an Australian Government Volunteers Grant, awarded to the Federation last year, it will send a delegation to Sheffield on the weekend of 22 and 23 November 2014. The delegation will:
• Discuss forming and affiliating a Bocce Club in Sheffield with the Sheffield Bocce Players Group
• Holding ‘come and try’ and ‘learn the rules’ Bocce event for the Sheffield Bocce Players Group and the general community, in conjunction with the Lunch in the Park for suicide awareness on Saturday 22 November

Accompanying the delegation are some members of the Glenorchy RSL Bocce Club who will be helping out with the ‘come and try’ event.

This is a magnificent opportunity for the community of Sheffield and surrounding towns to have a go at Bocce. The following are details of the ‘come and try’ event
• Saturday 22 November
• Come any time between 11am and 3pm
• The Bocce Courts are located at the Sheffield Medical Centre, 1 Henry Street, Sheffield
• Receive tuition from experienced Bocce Tasmania coaches
• Its FREE. The Lunch in the Park for suicide awareness will be providing a FREE sausage sizzle as well!
• All ages are very welcome
• No need to register, just turn up
• There is an opportunity to register your interest in playing Bocce more often in Sheffield if you think it’s for you
• It’s a great way to play some seriously fun Bocce and meet new people!
