THE CONVICTS TAKE ON KINGSTON CITY ROLLERS IN THE LAST HOME GAME FOR 2014
Convict City plays their last home game for the season on Saturday 25th October.
Kingston City Rollers (VIC) has drafted a team of experienced and guest skaters to take on Tasmania’s number
one roller derby league.
This game is a week out from the Bendigo Rebellion tournament, where Convict City is placed in the top
division, playing against Victorian Leagues.
The league is on a high after receiving news that it has been accepted into the Women’s Flat Track Derby
Association (WFTDA), the international governing organisation of the sport.
According to Alabama Hurley of the Convicts,
“The Convicts work to build our sport in Tasmania and to provide our members with as many opportunities to excel as
possible. We believe that our affiliation with WFTDA will enable us to do this even better in the future by giving us
access to resources and information from women’s flat track roller derby leagues from across the world. We have
always fought hard to stop our relative geographic isolation from the rest of the country being a barrier to our
development and we are already seeing the benefits of being involved with our sport’s international association.”
A highlight of the 2014 season, this is the last chance the home crowd will have to see the Convicts compete
before the team travels to Bendigo, Sydney then Newcastle in January for further interstate competitions and
tournaments.
