New Location a Boost for Workskills

Posted on

The Liberal Government is committed to ensuring Tasmanians have the best education and training opportunities.

Investment in skills supports Tasmanian business and helps Tasmanians to participate fully in the workforce.

Today I helped officially launch the relocation of the Workskills Red Shed to a bigger and better location in Chapel Street, Glenorchy.

The Launch included an open day to showcase the new facility to industry stakeholders, business leaders and the wider community.

Workskills is a leading not-for-profit community based employment services provider. Their new facility will allow the Workskills Red Shed Labour Skills Course to be offered to more unemployed Tasmanians.

The program teaches long-term unemployed Tasmanians the practical skills they need for building and associated trades, as well as instilling employability skills by restoring confidence, self-esteem, and a positive work attitude.

The aim of the program is to help address unemployment by assisting people to achieve their goal of finding meaningful, sustainable employment.

Helping businesses to create jobs and ensuring Tasmanians have the skills to fill those jobs are among the highest priorities for the Liberal Government.

Workskills’ bigger and better Red Shed complements the record investment in education delivered in the state budget, and the work being done by other providers including the Beacon Foundation, TOOL and Whitelion.
