Minister’s career advice for Pathway Planners
Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff must immediately reveal the redeployment options presented to 50 Guaranteeing Futures staff.
Shadow Education Minister Michelle O’Byrne used Question Time to ask if working with sex offenders was one career change offered to the affected employees.
“Without proper training, this is a highly inappropriate suggestion,” Ms O’Byrne said.
“Rehabilitating sex offenders requires a very specific set of skills and qualifications.
“If the Government expects Pathway Planners to transition into this work, it’s completely out of touch.
“The community response to the removal of Pathway Planners has been overwhelming and the Liberal Government should listen to the leaders of the future.
“Young Tasmanians have spoken loud and clear about the vital role Pathway Planners play in our schools, with more than 2100 people signing a petition of support.
“Jeremy Rockliff failed to address two specific questions in Parliament.
“It’s time the Minister treated his workforce with greater respect and was transparent with Tasmanians.”
