John Kirwan Thanked for Service

Posted on

The Government thanks Tasmanian Health Organisation-North CEO John Kirwan for his contribution and stewardship of health services in the North over the past six years.

Mr Kirwan advised the Governing Council of THO-North yesterday that he was resigning from the CEO position at the end of the year and will join the Royal Flying Doctor Service in January.

John Kirwan joined the Launceston General Hospital in April 2008 and has guided Northern Tasmanian health services through many significant changes in that time.

Over that period he has steered the Launceston General Hospital through what has been the biggest health capital works program in Northern Tasmania.

He has been a strong advocate for Tasmania’s health system and has built and strengthened relationships with the University of Tasmania through the Northern Integrated Care Service, the Clifford Craig Medical Research Trust and local government.

John Kirwan has made a substantial contribution to health services in Northern Tasmania in his role as THO-North CEO.

The Government thanks him for his efforts and strong personal commitment and we wish him the very best in his new role with the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Mr Kirwan continues in his role until the end of the year and is playing a key role in the health reform agenda.
