Helping the needy …
Last December Martyn Evans the local mayor set up the Derwent Valley Community Card no 6194994 so points could be acrued so this year we could help the needy.
We are currently $3300. This is our 1st year and the cut off for points is 04.11.14. We are donating the entire amount to New Norfolk St Vincent de Paul who in the last year gave $12,500 to the needy in $50 grocery cards.
Tasmania is the only state with frequent shopper points so points can be put onto this card anywhere in Tasmania. I was recently away for 2 mths and the signs were taken down at our local Woolwoths store, probably a mistake of sorts.
Perhaps your readers may like to help improve our tally. Our mayor asked other mayors but they werent interested.
This is a great idea to help someone in need and won’t cost us a cent
