Future of Glenorchy health project in doubt
Premier Will Hodgman must reveal to the people of Glenorchy whether plans for a $21 million Integrated Care Centre will be scrapped.
Neither the Premier nor the Health Minister could answer the question in Parliament this morning.
The Shadow Treasurer and Member for Denison, Scott Bacon, says abandoning the project would be a massive blow for the Glenorchy community.
“The Integrated Care Centre would provide greater access to health services, taking pressure off the Royal Hobart Hospital,” Mr Bacon said.
“The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works has already ticked off on this project in its report to Parliament.
“Now the Government is talking about reviews and feasibility studies. There are worrying signs this project has fallen victim to the Liberal Government’s cuts to frontline services.
“The Liberals promised to improve health services in the lead up to the election, to back away from this project would be an enormous betrayal of voters’ trust.”
