Bacon leaves bad taste in the mouth of public servants

Posted on

Scott Bacon should be ashamed of himself.

To come out today and say now is not the time for cuts to the public sector after it was Labor who campaigned against the pay freeze and campaigned against saving jobs is disgraceful.

Public servants will feel let down by Labor who chose to put politics ahead of their jobs. We were clear – it was the pay freeze or 500 jobs and Labor chose to side with the Unions and the Greens instead of public sector workers.

We are resolute in doing the job Tasmanians elected us to do and fixing the budget mess. If we don’t act now, the budget will only get worse in future and require deeper cuts to fix.

The Liberal Government is delivering its plan for Tasmania and since the election we have seen the unemployment rate drop, more jobs created and increases in building approvals, retail trade and business confidence.

Scott Bacon can talk all he wants – we’re taking action and growing the economy to create jobs.
