A STATEMENT ON GOVERNMENT AND OPPOSITION ABANDONING JOB SEEKERS
We’ve just witnessed another appalling example of the Coalition Government steamrolling controversial legislation through the Parliament with the support of the Labor Opposition.
In less than two minutes, the Government and Opposition stripped job seekers of their rights with absolutely no notice or time for proper debate.
In the House of Representatives, both the Coalition and Labor were complicit in removing the ability for job seekers to explain the reason they missed an appointment, and still be back-payed, even if the reason is genuine.
This is dreadful policy and yet another attack on young people in our community who are trying to access gainful employment.
Almost as alarming is that the Government and Opposition are now in lockstep passing elements of the miserable May Federal Budget, which is a cruel and ideological attack on the most vulnerable people in the country.
Shame on the lot of them.
