Wheels falling off an incompetent government

Treasurer Peter Gutwein’s embarrassing back down on the pay freeze legislation is the latest example of incompetence from the Liberal Government.

Labor Leader Bryan Green says the arrogance of the Liberals is catching up with them.

“They were all guns blazing when they rammed legislation through the lower house, now they’ve run into democracy,” Mr Green said.

“Both the pay freeze and protest legislation show the Government’s complete lack of consultation.

“The Treasurer should now negotiate an outcome with unions on behalf of public service workers.

“On radio this morning, Peter Gutwein rubbished the advice of Industrial Commission President, Tim Abey.

“This is the sign of an arrogant government, still drunk on its election win.

“Public servants know this government bought its way into power.

“The Treasurer must also explain if his amendments mean his budget will need to be altered.

“Savings from the pay freeze were built in right across the forward estimates.

“Peter Gutwein must come clean on whether his numbers add up.”
