Tasmanian irrigation schemes recognised for excellence in engineers’ awards
The Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association today saluted Tasmanian Irrigation (TI) and its technical general manager Greg Stanford for their wins in this year’s Engineers Australia state awards for engineering excellence.
Stanford was named Professional Engineer of the Year for his oversight of all the irrigation schemes while TI won the Project Infrastructure category for the Midlands Water Scheme, which has just come into operation.
“Greg Stanford has been the one responsible for engineering and project management components across all the projects since 2008 – the completed Sassafras-Wesley Vale, Whitemore, Headquarters Road Dam, Winnaleah, Lower South Esk and Midlands schemes and the South East, Upper Ringarooma and Dial Blythe schemes that are under construction,” TFGA CEO Jan Davis said today.
“The public private partnership that he helped to develop for these schemes is now an international template for the cooperation necessary to get these schemes off the ground.
“Tasmanian farmers are right behind TI and Greg Stanford in what they are doing to transform agriculture in this state.”
