No Funds for Principal Urban Cycling Network
Infrastructure Minister Rene Hidding has confirmed that there will be no funding for the extension of the Principal Urban Cycling Network (PUCN) in Tasmania.
“One of the first victims of the Liberal’s ideological fixation on cars seems to be cycling infrastructure, with no allocation at all for progressing the PUCN,” said Greens Infrastructure spokesperson Nick McKim MP.
“Mr Hidding has relegated the PUCN to a paper based strategy that will languish with no funding whatsoever under the Liberals.”
“This is a last century approach to transport, and will come as a real disappointment to the tens of thousands of Tasmanians who use active transport for both commuting and recreation,” Mr McKim said.
