Lazy Labor Scores An “F”

Posted on

The lazy Labor opposition has failed the test of providing an alternative budget, and has earned an F.

With their continued opposition to our budget and our election promises, Labor is opposing the Liberal Government’s record investment in health, additional police on the beat and the Gonski education reforms.

Labor has no plan, they have no policies and they were too lazy to even bother with a costed alternative budget. Now Labor is opposing better opportunities for Tasmanians.
We are committed to our goal of wanting Tasmania to lead the nation in education rather than lagging behind the pack as we did under Labor for 16 years.

That’s why we are investing a record $1.4 billion in education and training in this year alone. This is $57 million more than what the previous Labor-Green government would have spent in 2014-15.

We have kept our commitment to fund the State’s contribution to Gonski for the full six years.

We are keeping our promise to extend high schools in rural communities to Years 11 and 12, and we have delivered 25 literacy and numeracy teachers to help those students who need it the most.

We are also introducing a contemporary model of child and youth health nurses and we are providing an additional week of employment for Teacher Assistants.

Labor is not only opposing all of the investment that this Budget provides for education, it is opposing the greater opportunities that it will help to deliver.
