EOI Process for Tourism Developments
The Liberal Government is taking action towards transforming Tasmania into the environment tourism capital of the world.
There has been significant interest from investors and tourism operators in our Expressions of Interest process for sensible and appropriate tourism developments in our National Parks and World Heritage Area.
As revealed in Estimates hearings today, 87 enquiries and requests for additional information have been received so far.
While it is important to maintain confidentiality around the type and number of submissions received, we are very excited by the interest and are confident that it will result in a strong number of Expressions of Interest.
We have had excellent engagement with the tourism sector and with developers around this process and have received very positive feedback. Everything we have heard from the industry indicates that there is genuine excitement around this opportunity from Tasmanian, Australian and international investors.
We are confident that this process will bring about new, unique tourist offerings which will help to establish Tasmania as the environmental tourism capital of the world.
The Expressions of Interest period opened in June and closes on November 21.
