End-of-Trip Bike Facilities
Today the Liberal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable transport through a $10,000 Cycling for Active Transport grant, to deliver a high quality bike hub at the University of Tasmania’s Inveresk Campus.
It sets the standard in the provision of end-of-trip cycling facilities and shows what can be done with thoughtful design and an innovative approach. I particularly like the e-bike recharging facilities, as I think that e-bikes will become more popular into the future.
This secure bike hub will encourage students and staff to use their bikes to travel from home to University; between University campuses; and into the City to do all those things we like to do (or need to do) between lectures.
We will be working the bus and coach industry to improve the coordination and integration of bus services through the development of a Transport Access Strategy. Facilitating walking and cycling links to key destinations and public transport corridors, will also be a focus of the Strategy.
The Liberal Government is committed to ensuring that all Tasmanians have access to transport for travel to work, education and essential services.
