Dear Friends of St Johns, Franklin
You are cordially invited to a free barbecue on Sunday 28th September in the grounds of ST John’s Church, Franklin. It is an opportunity to meet with other members of the group, the committee and friends. Unfortunately we cannot enter the church but we are able to have a picnic in the grounds! The BBQ will commence at about 12.30pm and all are encouraged to bring along a Friend. All food is free but please if you need a seat – bring one along.
You are no doubt wondering what is going on as things have gone very quiet. I am delighted to say that we have received our Certificate of Incorporation and are now in a position to move forward. We have had a further meeting with Robert Wallace, the Registrar of the Anglican Diocese of Tasmania and were told that the church will soon be put on the market through an agent and by expressions of interest. We will need to hastily develop a business plan and look at what options we have as a group. Sunday’s BBQ is an opportunity for you to have a say.
I strongly urge you come along after the market and share your ideas as well as see the property. We need the support of the whole Franklin community to make this historic property a community facility and not see it sold to a developer.
