Union protest a sign of a healthy democracy
The Liberal Government supports the right to free speech and we were pleased to see unions exercising that right outside Parliament House today.
The good news is they will be able to do exactly the same thing under our Worplaces (Protection from Protesters) Bill because it does not remove the right to protest.
Today’s gathering is a sign of a healthy democracy; so we support those unions having their say.
The Liberal Government’s legislation is not about removing that right to protest; it is about protecting workers from radical protesters who want to go beyond expressing a view.
We believe that workers have a right to earn a living without the threat of radical protesters shutting them down.
