Tuesday Rally, Launceston: ‘Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea’
Community members are invited to attend the ‘Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea’ fundraising event at Fresh Café in Launceston on Tuesday 19th August 2014.
Organized by Launceston based group Safe Asylum, the event will feature life music by Marty Kooistra and Delroy leading up to the documentary screening, with drinks available for purchase at the bar.
“In addition to the documentary screening, this fantastic event will include local live music and will help to raise awareness of and continue the important discussion on asylum seeker policies in Australia”, says Ms Bel St Clair, Safe Asylum member.
“Community members are invited to join us to enjoy some great live music and the documentary to raise awareness about the plight of Australia’s “boat people” while also helping to raise funding for an important cause” says Ms Laura Koens, event organizer.
The event will commence at 5.45pm with live music, followed by the documentary screening at 6.30pm and a discussion afterwards with members of Launceston based Safe Asylum.
Tickets are available on the door for $10 with all proceeds going to the United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR).
Safe Asylum is a group for people from Tasmania to join together to stand up and stand with people in their legal and human right to seek asylum.
