Tasmania’s Economy Continues to Improve

Posted on

Figures out today in both retail trade and the property market show the economy continues to grow under the Liberal Government.

Monthly ABS figures show retail turnover in Tasmania has increased by 9.4 per cent compared to the same time last year. This increase is well above the national average of 5.3 per cent.

The Liberal Government is opening Tasmania up for business and creating the right conditions for retailers to grow and create jobs. Since the election of a majority Liberal Government in March, more than 2,000 jobs have already been created.

In a further sign of confidence, house sales in Tasmania have climbed to a four year high.

Today’s June Quarter Property Report from the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania shows the highest number of house sales since the June 2010 quarter.

This follows a recent national economic report* showing an increasingly positive outlook in Tasmania’s property industry for coming months.

These reports show there is renewed confidence under the Liberal Government which is laying the foundations for the future to grow the economy and create jobs.
