Tasmania Police helping to bring MH17 victims home to their families

Posted on

Today, I was proud to approve the deployment of two Tasmania Police officers to the Netherlands to assist with identifying the victims of the MH17 tragedy.

The Australian Federal Police requested the assistance of two Tasmania Police Disaster Victim Identification specialists, and Constable Katrina Chivers and First Class Constable Rod Walker are already on their way.

They will be working with their counterparts in the Netherlands in an effort that highlights a positive example of civilised nations dealing with the results of barbaric human behaviour elsewhere in the world.

This difficult work is about reuniting the families of MH17 victims with their loved ones; bringing them home to rest in dignity and peace.

Tasmania Police is recognised for having a range of exceptional policing skills, and today’s deployment highlights why we are justly proud of our officers.
