Hurry Hobart, only limited places left to Get Bill Smart!

Places are filling up fast to the Get Bill Smart energy efficiency project for low income households. Join the many Greater Hobart residents who have already jumped on board this great project, and you could win a bonus $50 grocery voucher and free membership to Sustainable Living Tasmania, just for being the 50th applicantto Get Bill Smart in August.

Get Bill Smart is a FREE program designed to help private renters and home owners save money and stay warmer in their homes during winter.

Participants only need to fill in 2 simple surveys about their energy usage patterns at home and in return will receive either a FREE home energy efficiency upgrade or FREE grocery vouchers, through a random allocation process.

The free home upgrade can include the installation of power saving lights and water saving shower heads, the insulation of hot water pipes, and sealing up draughts in doors and windows.

Get Bill Smart Project Manager Jodi Alexander said‘the rewards for filling in 2 surveys have been a definite motivator to join the project, with over 360 Greater Hobart residents registering. ‘Thousands of dollars’ worth of grocery vouchers have already been distributed to program participants and the FREE home energy upgrades will begin this month’ Jodi said.

“We only have 100 places left in the project so time is running out to get involved”.

Clarendon Vale and Rokeby residents are invited to attend a free information session on how to heat their home cheaply and effectively, on Thursday 21st August from 1:30 – 2:30pm at the Rokeby Neighbourhood Centre. More energy efficiency events and information sessions are happening in Clarendon Vale and Rokeby with information available the local neighbourhood centres.

Get Bill Smart is run by Sustainable Living Tasmania, The University of Tasmania and Mission Australia with funding by the Department of Industry as part of the Low Income Energy Efficiency Program (LIEEP).

To be eligible for the project participants must residein low income households, be over 18 years old, have a Healthcare/Pension Concession or DVA card and live in Greater Hobart council areas in private rental or owned homes.
