Denison arts scene boosted again
The Independent Member for Denison, Andrew Wilkie, has congratulated local recipients of the latest round of Regional Arts Fund (RAF) Community Grants.
Four successful applicants from Mr Wilkie’s electorate of Denison will share in $23,500 from the Australian Government Ministry for the Arts initiative supporting the arts in regional and remote Australia and delivered in Tasmania in partnership with Tasmanian Regional Arts.
They include Hobart theatre maker Fiona Stewart who will visit the Mary Hutchinson Women’s Prison and use the prisoners’ words to create a show to challenge stereotypes and provide a rare glimpse of the lives of women `inside’. Ms Stewart is available for interview and her contact details are available on request.
“Denison is already on the world map thanks to its thriving arts scene and these eclectic projects will fuel this cultural renaissance,’’ Mr Wilkie said.
