ABS Job Figures
Today’s ABS job figures show small but positive signs for the Tasmanian economy.
Around 2,000 jobs have now been created since the Liberal Government won at the March election.
100 new jobs were created in July and the participation rate has increased by 0.1 per cent to 61 per cent, its highest level in more than three years. This is another sign of renewed confidence.
The unemployment rate has remained steady at 7.5 per cent, which is still too high. We are also working hard to minimise the impact of the West Coast mining job losses as well, which could impact on the unemployment rate.
The Liberal Government is now laying the foundations for the future but we know there is still a lot of work to be done.
The August 28 budget will deliver on our promises to Tasmanians and fix the mess left by Labor and the Greens.
