Will Hodgman: TripAdvisor names Tasmania’s Top Landmarks

Posted on

The Liberal Government is committed to growing our tourism sector to create jobs, growth and opportunity.

Tasmania’s world-class tourism reputation continues to grow as a must-visit destination with the State scoring two places on TripAdvisor’s top ten list of Australian landmarks.

The Port Arthur Historic Site and Hobart’s Penitentiary Chapel were both named on the list, confirming their status as iconic tourism destinations.

I congratulate all staff involved on their hard work in achieving this wonderful result.

For the Port Arthur Historic Site Management Authority, it comes off the back of several awards for excellence from TripAdvisor.

These latest awards further cement Tasmania’s reputation as a tourism destination and we are committed to growing this key industry.

The Liberal Government is supporting our tourism businesses and operators through our vision to grow the industry to 1.5 million visitors by 2020, which the industry says will create 8,000 jobs.
