TasRail Brighton hub opens

A new standard for intermodal freight in Tasmania became reality today with the Toll Group
officially opening a $25 million development at the TasRail Brighton Transport Hub.

TasRail Chief Executive Officer, Damien White congratulated Toll on the completion of its new,
contemporary facilities. He revealed that with Toll now fully integrated with TasRail’s
operations at the Brighton Transport Hub, the vision to combine the flexibility of road transport
operations with the line haul efficiency of rail had been realised.

“With Toll and TasRail now firmly established at Brighton, the TasRail Transport Hub is
providing a focal point for the consolidation and deconsolidation of freight”, Mr White said.

“This will help to transform the way freight is moved between the North and South of the State
and encourage growth in rail transport. It will also see TasRail interface with other transport
providers, both large and small”.

Mr White said that Toll’s commitment to relocate its terminal operations from Macquarie Point
and to invest significant capital in new facilities at the Hub demonstrated its growing confidence
in rail. “Since it was established in December 2009, TasRail has experienced steady growth
in container freight volumes and we are encouraged by Toll’s appetite to convert more road
freight to rail as our services and reliability further improve”, he said.

TasRail has itself installed significant infrastructure and facilities at the Hub and has
successfully managed log loading operations at the site over the past 12 months. The
Company expects to see the site further develop with plans to attract other tenants over time.

Mr White said that the Toll Group is Australia’s largest transport provider and a valued, major
customer of TasRail. “By working together, our activities support many thousands of jobs and
we keep Tasmanian business and industry moving across the State”, he said.
