Michelle O’Byrne: Nothing fair about Libs’ $50,000 education program cut

Posted on

Shadow Education Minister Michelle O’Byrne has expressed her disappointment that the State Government has cut $50,000 in funding to the educational group A Fairer World.

“It is disappointing to see the Government make such a short-sighted cut,” Ms O’Byrne said.

“Labor in Government funded and continues to support A Fairer World and programs they run like RU MAD? (RU Making A Difference).

“The beauty of these programs is that they are low-cost and engage high numbers of students over numerous schools, as well those schools’ wider communities.

“For the sake of $50,000, Education Minister Jeremy Rockliff is putting his overblown election spending promises ahead of the education of Tasmanian students.

“To not even consult with A Fairer World to hear their case before slashing funding is both arrogant and gutless from Jeremy Rockliff.”
