Matthew Groom: Selling Tasmania’s Potential
The Liberal Government is committed to building on our competitive strengths to create jobs, growth and opportunity in Tasmania.
I will today take a clear message to global business leaders at the Business 20 summit in Sydney: Tasmania is open for business.
The Liberal Government is making it easier for businesses to invest and employ with the abolition of headworks charges, introducing a single state-wide planning system, the local benefits test for government tender and cutting red and green tape.
We have taken the first step to unlocking the potential of our National Parks and the World Heritage Area through the Expressions of Interest process that will attract investors and operators to take visitors off the beaten track.
The B20 is an important chance pitch everything Tasmania has to offer to the likes of business heavyweights including Rio Tinto, the ASF Group Limited and the Intercontinental Hotel Group.
Our message was heard by international investors who already realise Australia’s and Tasmania’s potential and those who are interested in future investment.
Following the conclusion of the B20 an agreed set of policies aimed at creating jobs and global economic growth, a sentiment shared by this Government, will be finalised ahead of the G20 Leaders summit in Brisbane in November this year.
The Liberal Government is getting on with the job of rebuilding the economy and creating jobs.
We are backing our competitive strengths in agriculture, aquaculture, mining, forestry, tourism and energy; assets that are abundant in Tasmania.
Matthew Groom, Minister for State Growth
