Despite challenging weather conditions, Reserve Forces Day proceeded as planned

Posted on

Despite challenging weather conditions, Reserve Forces Day proceeded as planned yesterday and was attended by some 250 people.

They paid homage to the 1000 brave soldiers whom left our shores 100 years ago to fight in WW1. A special plaque was struck and permanently erected on Hobart’s Franklin Wharf to replace the original lost due to fire in 1948. The Premier of Tasmania Will Hodgman congratulated and thanked reservists for their hard work and community support. He spoke personally about his late father Michael Hodgmans’ strong commitment to the Reserve Forces. A Navy/Army brass band, heritage vehicle display, presentation by the Men in Black Choir and a Rotary BBQ were just some of the wonderful features of the day.

Reserve Forces Day is celebrated nationally on or around 1st July annually.
