Bryan Green: June jobs data welcomed
Labor Leader Bryan Green has welcomed today’s Australian Bureau of Statistics figures that showed jobs growth in June.
“It is encouraging to see more jobs in the state,” Mr Green said.
“This continues a positive trend in jobs growth that started under the previous government.
“But this week’s news from the West Coast shows it is too soon for anyone in Tasmania to rest on their laurels.
“There is also the uncertainty on what public service jobs cuts loom in the August budget.
“The task now is to make sure that jobs growth is spread across the whole state – particularly on the West Coast, which is facing an enormous challenge.
“Labor stands willing to work with the Liberal Party in a bipartisan manner to get a positive solution for West Coast communities.
“Labor will not talk down the state’s economy from opposition and is encouraged by these jobs figures.”
