Excerpts from the 1Q 2014 issue of the Wood Resource Quarterly (www.woodprices.com)

Sawlog prices moved upward in a majority of the 20 regions covered by WRQ

Softwood pulpwood prices moved up, while hardwood pulpwood prices fell for many pulp mills around the world.

Production of market pulp fell in two of the three major pulp-producing regions in the world in early 2014.

Global trade of lumber increased.

Continued strong demand for North American wood pellets.

Decline in lumber imports to China during the first four months of 2014

Lumber production fell slightly in the US in early 2014.

Lumber exports from Canada in the 1Q/14 fell to all markets except the US.
