TasRail: Level Crossing fatality a tragedy

Posted on

News last night that the woman involved in a level crossing accident at Claremont
yesterday while walking her dog had died in hospital has been described as a tragedy
by TasRail CEO Damien White.

“I know I speak for the TasRail Board and all of our staff when I say that our deep
sympathy, thoughts and prayers are with the family today.”

Mr White praised the efforts of the first responders from TasRail, Tasmania Police
and Ambulance Tasmania, and acknowledged the efforts of many during the accident
response.

“No amount of experience within the rail industry, however, lessens the devastating
impact of a fatality on the network,” said Mr White.

TasRail is providing support and counseling to the driver and staff involved in the
incident.
