Paul Harriss: Greens’ arrogance knows no bounds

Posted on

The cynical, last-minute filing of an appeal against a West Coast mine by a Green front group shows that they will stop at nothing to try to destroy jobs.

The Tarkine National Coalition had three weeks to appeal a Federal Court’s rejection of its last appeal against the approval of the Riley mine, yet it waited until there were barely minutes left on the clock to lodge this appeal.

This is a disgraceful move driven by ideological opposition to any mining in a region that has seen industrial activity for more than 100 years.

The Greens have arrogantly failed to heed the message that Tasmanians sent them in the March state election.

We want jobs in this state, we want investment, and it’s about time that the Greens got out of the away and accepted the people’s decision, if not the court’s.
