Monday: Marc Isaacs free lunchtime book reading

Posted on

Sydney based Case Worker and author of the ‘Undesirables Inside Nauru’ Marc Isaacs will be providing a free lunchtime book reading in Launceston on Monday 16th June at the Launceston library.

Mark Isaacs worked for the Salvation Army providing support work and humanitarian aid for asylum seekers in the Nauru Regional Processing Centre. After resigning from the role, he became a whistleblower and published this book about his experiences on Nauru.

“Hosted by Safe Asylum and Amnesty International Tasmania, this fantastic event will coincide with International Refugee Week”, says co-organiser Ms Kym Blechynden of Safe Asylum.

“Isaac’s book is on such an important topic and we are extremely grateful that he is making the time to come to Launceston to speak with community members”, says Ms Blechynden.

The free event will occur at 12 noon on the ground floor Launceston LINC Library (St John/Cameron Street) on Monday 16th June at 12 noon.

For any queries please contact Kym at email: tassafeasylum@gmail.com or go to the Safe Asylum Facebook page. There are also events in Hobart and Cygnet throughout the week.

Safe Asylum is a grass roots organization based in Launceston who work to raise awareness of the United Nations Convention and asylum seeker policies.
