Miranda Gibson: Forest campaigners keeping close watch on anti-democratic Bill

Posted on

Today forest campaigner Miranda Gibson will be in attendance at Parliament House in Tasmania to keep a close watch on the Workplaces (Protection from Protestors) Bill being debated.

“This anti-democratic Bill undermines basic principles of free speech and civil society. The Liberals are pushing this Bill in order to continue their assault on the environment free from scrutiny and criticism by the community” said Ms Gibson.

“The Hodgman Government’s seeks to sacrifice basic democratic rights to pursue it’s ideologically driven, extremist, anti-environment agenda” said Ms Gibson.

“As the Hodgman Government seeks to silence environmental advocates like myself, I will be listening closely and scrutinising the debate today. I will continue to stand with the community to hold members of Parliament who may be considering supporting these draconian measures to account” said Ms Gibson.
