Matthew Groom: Boat operator sought for Three Capes Track

Posted on

Tasmania’s natural environment, including our world class National Parks and World Heritage Area, are some of our greatest assets and most valuable tourism draw cards.

That’s why the Liberal Government is investing $4 million towards Stage 3 of the Three Capes Track.

When completed, this will bring 10,000 walkers to the region which is expected to inject $20 million into the State’s economy and support 334 direct and indirect jobs.

The Liberal Government is committed to making this world class attraction a reality and we are now calling for Expressions of Interest for a commercial boat-operator for the Three Capes Track.

This is a chance for an innovative tourism operator to develop a boating experience that will introduce visitors to one of Australia’s premier coastal walks, showcasing the outstanding natural beauty of the Tasman Peninsula.

The operator would transport walkers from the jetty at the Port Arthur Historic Site to Denmans Cove at the beginning of the Cape Pillar and Cape Hauy section of the Three Capes Track.

The Liberal Government is committed to building on our competitive strengths such as tourism and by investing in world class attractions like the Three Capes Track, we will achieve our target to grow tourism numbers to 1.5 million by 2020.

Expressions of interest close on 7 July 2014.
