Level crossing collision
TasRail is cooperating with investigators, following a level crossing collision at Claremont earlier today.
The collision occurred this morning at an active Level Crossing on Box Hill Rd Claremont between TasRail’s 435 service and a 70 year old female pedestrian transiting the crossing while walking her dog.
Tasmania Police, Fire and Ambulance crews have attended the scene and TasRail is working co-operatively with the Police to investigate the incident. TasRail will also carry out its own investigation and report to the Rail Safety Regulator.
Chief Executive Officer Damien White said TasRail is deeply saddened by the incident.
“Our thoughts are with the woman and her family.
“This is extremely difficult for all involved but I am grateful for the professional way they have responded to what is a distressing event,” Mr White said.
TasRail will make a further public statement as more details become available.
