Bryan Green: Liberals break their word over public service jobs
The Liberal Government has sent a clear and alarming message to public servants this afternoon when it comes to forced redundancies.
Labor Leader Bryan Green introduced a bill to the house to protect public service jobs by increasing the time to make someone forcibly redundant from 6 months to 12 months.
“The Liberals have today proved you can’t trust a thing they said in Opposition,” Mr Green said.
“This is the same change Will Hodgman supported just a few months ago.
“Today he betrayed the trust of public servants who believed the Premier had their best interests at heart.
“In Opposition Will Hodgman painted himself as a friend of the worker.
“That claim has now been shown for what it was – a purely political play.
“It’s a very ominous sign ahead of the delayed August 28 budget.
“The Liberals have already opened the door for a further 1000 job cuts, today’s vote only makes that more concerning.”
