Unanimous vote by HCC Finance committee a strong signal to Adrian Bold

Posted on

The Finance and Corporate Services Committee of the HCC sent a clear signal to the Mt Wellington Cableway Company tonight (Tues) at their Committee Meeting that he will not be given preferential treatment for his proposed development.

“The unanimous vote by the Committee is a clear rejection of Bold’s bid to railroad support for the project through Council. Not one single councillor supported Mr Bold’s bid to get landowner consent before submitting development plans.

“Mr Bold has not addressed in any comprehensive manner the wide range of impacts this project will cause on the Mountain.

“The Committee quite rightly are refusing to exempt MWCC from normal procedures. The motion that was passed is clearly demanding a lot more information before they will even consider the issue of granting landowner consent.

“Mr Bold and his company must do a series of studies before they can get to next base. This project is looking less and less likely to go ahead with the strong motion passed by the Committee.

“Clearly the Council have responded to legitimate community concerns but this debate has a long way to go before we are able to ensure that the Mountain is protected for the people of Hobart, not as a plaything for any developer.
