Rene Hidding: Report on Northern Suburbs Rail proposal
The Government has received the PricewaterhouseCooper (PwC) report into the Hobart Northern Suburbs Light Rail proposal.
Addressing the Tasmanian Bus Association annual conference today, I explained that the report expresses concern over the potential viability of light rail, and finds that a more cost-effective alternative is to improve the current public bus services.
While the PwC report is not encouraging, consistent with our election commitment, the proposal will be referred to Infrastructure Tasmania to consider after it is established later this year.
