Peter Gutwein: Planning Taskforce Getting on with the Job
The Tasmanian Planning Reform Taskforce has today started work on delivering the Liberal Government’s long term plan for a single state-wide planning scheme.
The inaugural meeting of the newly formed taskforce is another concrete step in the Liberal Government’s strategy to deliver a fairer, faster, cheaper and simpler planning system.
I was pleased to meet the taskforce members today and thank them for their input into this critical planning reform process.
Reforming planning is one of the Liberal Government’s highest and most immediate priorities and will help to make Tasmania more attractive for investment and create jobs.
The taskforce will work in partnership with Local Government, industry, communities, business and investors to bring forward recommendations to me to deliver a common sense approach to planning.
Under the Labor Green Government the planning system was a hand-brake on development.
Small business and Tasmanian families struggle daily with red and Green tape involved in development applications.
This Government will remove this burden.
A single state-wide planning scheme is an important part of our plan to cut red and Green tape by 20 per cent, stimulating Tasmanian businesses and creating jobs.
Peter Gutwein, Minister for Planning and Local Government
