Guy Barnett: Volunteer Roundtable a Resounding Success

Posted on

The Premier and I were delighted with the outcome at today’s Volunteer Roundtable in Evandale.

National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to thank some of Tasmania’s most hard working and dedicated people.

We know hours donated by Tasmanian volunteers add $638 million dollars to the economy every year, which adds up to 2.2% of our gross state product.

Almost 160-thousand Tasmanians give up their time to work as volunteers, which would make it the State’s 8th biggest employer if it was an industry.

Today we heard concerns about red tape holding back these organisations. We must help these people keep up their good work and that’s why the Liberal government is committed to cutting red and green tape.

National Volunteers Week runs until Sunday.
