Posted on

Damien Brown has announced that he will leave his position as presenter of ABC Northern Drive.

Damien, who has been in the Drive chair for two years, said to today, ‘I cannot begin to put into words the pride I feel having been given the trust, respect, guidance and beyond all faith in my ability as a broadcaster at the ABC … this coming from a doofus from Devonport who was always in trouble with his teachers and never finished college! It is that immense responsibility that has been handed to me, particularly in terms of the audience that has made this such a tough decision for me.’

ABC Local Radio Manager, Jocelyn Nettlefold commented, “Damien is a media professional who has connected well with Northern Tasmanian listeners, entertaining and informing them in their local Drive show. We wish him well in the future.

Damien’s final shift will be Friday, June 20. A decision on Damien’s replacement will be made towards the end of the broadcast year. In the interim Hilary Burden will move into the Drive chair.
