Ban cruel quail killing
Against Animal Cruelty Tasmania (AACT) is outraged the Tasmanian Government is still allowing recreational shooting of Brown Quail. The six week open season is due to start this weekend, and AACT is renewing its call to end the killing.
“The Tasmanian Government continues to endorse the broad scale slaughter of native wildlife.” said Chris Simcox, spokesperson for AACT, “This is yet another part of the Autumn killing time that began nearly two months ago with the start of the duck shooting season. As a society we should not tolerate this rampant destruction of wild creatures. AACT are strongly opposed to any form of killing, particularly when it is purely for fun.”
Other States have brought an end to quail shooting, including Western Australia and Queensland. AACT urges the Tasmania Government to follow suit.
“This Government is culpable for this cruel destruction of Tasmanian natve wildlife.” said Mr Simcox. “Shooting any living being with a shotgun is a guarantee of causing injury and suffering. Members of this government have the blood of these innocent creatures on their hands. It is time to stop this senseless barbarity.”
