Jan Davis: TFGA again the hub for chat at Agfest

Posted on

Tasmanian farmers are capable of most things. They can even provide an oasis in the middle of a large paddock not known for its lack of water.

The theme for the TFGA pavilion at Agfest in May is a combination of ideas: an oasis, a refuge, a port from the storm and the staff common room at school. In other words, it’s going to be the place to duck into, to put your bags down, rest your weary bones, compare new socks and gizmos, grab a coffee, talk farming and complain about the weather.

And at Agfest, having a venue for all that is a real oasis.

Agfest runs from Thursday, May 1 to Saturday May 3. As usual, the TFGA’s pavilion will be at 507 Fifth Avenue.

“At this Agfest we are going to give you a break from the carving and cooking demonstrations of the past couple of years and make it more of a meeting place; somewhere to meet us, meet your friends, swap yarns, recharge the batteries before heading out into the fray again,” TFGA chief executive Jan Davis said today.

The TFGA will be sharing the pavilion with:
its business partners, the ANZ Bank, KPMG, Animal Control Technologies Australia and the farm insurer WFI
Sense-T, the people behind the remarkable sensor technology that is going to revolutionise how we farm in the future
Tasmanian Irrigation
SFM Management
Sheep Connect
NRM North & South
National Harvest Labour Information Service
Animal Veterinary Association
“Agfest is a huge event for Tasmania’s farmers and the TFGA always goes to a great deal of effort to make the most of its presence there,” Ms Davis said.

“Our specialist staff will be on hand each day together with members of our commodity committees and board directors.

“If you want to buttonhole any of them, there’ll be no place for them to hide.”
Jan Davis, TFGA CEO.
