… for Christians and Federal Government

Australian marriage equality advocates have welcomed a decision by World Vision US to recognise same-sex marriages, saying it sets an example for Australian Christian organisations and the federal government.

Australian Marriage Equality national director, Rodney Croome,

“World Vision’s message is that the opposition of some churches to same-sex marriages should not stand in the way of the recognition of such marriages.”

“This is a message that Australian Christian organisations and the Federal Government should heed.”

“We call on World Vision Australia to follow the lead of its US counterpart by adopting non-discriminatory employment policies including the recognition of the same-sex marriages of its employees.”

World Vision US, one of the world’s largest Christian charities, has said it will begin employing partners in same-sex marriages, in part because of the growing legal recognition of such marriages across the US.
